Qantas, Australia’s largest airline, is offering its citizens a special flight at the end of this month. Under it, Australian citizens will have the opportunity to see the upcoming Supermoon and lunar eclipse on May 26 from a height of 40,000 feet in the sky. All tickets for the Qantas flight were sold out in a record time of just 2.5 minutes. Qantas operated the first such flight in October last year. At that point in just 10 minutes all the tickets for the flight were sold out and this flight came under discussion. The airline’s chief customer officer, Stephanie Tully, said the airline had charged an economy class ticket fare of 38 386 (approximately Rs 28,340) on its flight. However, the fare for a business class ticket was fixed at USD 1160 (approximately Rs 85,167).
Stephanie said the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be used in this special flight of Qantas. The windows of this aircraft are large which is perfect for viewing the moon. In many parts of the world the moon will appear red due to a total lunar eclipse. As the moon passes by the shadow of the earth, it will appear dark and red.
Qantas offers passengers a joy ride with the help of its flight. The flight of Supermoon is part of this initiative. Ticket buyers are also very excited about this flight.
